How many miles can you drive before you have to change spark plugs?

I bought a used car recently and want to make sure I take proper care of it and stay on top of its maintenance schedule. How many miles should a car have before its time to change spark plugs?

Good question! After about 30,000 miles, it’s time to change your spark plugs. In terms of time, that evens out to about once every two or three years. But, if you want a more precise estimate, check your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
However, take that estimate with a grain of salt. If you’re experiencing rough idling, a decrease in fuel economy, difficulty starting your engine, poor acceleration, or frequent engine misfires, it may be time for a spark plug replacement. On average,
the cost of spark plug replacement
hovers somewhere between $120.27 and 147.00 for both parts and labor.
Staying on top of
routine vehicle maintenance
is a great way to help extend the lifespan of your vehicle and keep it in the best shape possible.
