Today, Jeep still uses the Unlimited moniker, but these vehicles are not the same as the TJ Unlimited or LJ. This model, nicknamed LJ for “long Jeep,” is different from today’s Unlimited Wranglers because, despite being a longer vehicle, it only had two doors.
Jeep enthusiasts enjoyed a better ride in the LJ model, thanks to its heavier weight and longer wheelbase. The LJ also had much more towing capacity, at 3,500 pounds compared to the Jeep Wrangler TJ’s 2,000-lb towing capacity.
