Congratulations on getting your permit! You will need a minimum of 45 hours of behind-the-wheel practice driving, 15 of which must be at night. While you are practicing, you must be supervised by a licensed parent, legal guardian, or driver over 18.
Once you have held your license for nine months or more and fulfilled the practice hours, you will be eligible to take the road test to be fully licensed—provided that you are at least 16 years and 3 months old.
Even after you pass your exam, there are age-based restrictions on teen drivers under 18. This includes:
No driving between 12 am to 4 am, unless there is an emergency
During the first year, you can only carry one passenger under the age of 18
After one year, you must not carry more than three passengers under the age of 18
You cannot use any wireless communication device while driving
Passenger restrictions do not apply to immediate family members
You may also need to get your own car insurance
coverage once you get your license. While insurance can be pricier for new drivers, Jerry

You will also have access to customized quotes from over 50 insurance providers! Once you choose a policy that fits your coverage needs and budget, Jerry will handle the rest of the paperwork.
The average Jerry user has found savings of $887 a year on car insurance, and you can too!
