How many hours of driving are required before you can get a license in Ohio?

I live in Ohio and have just got my learner’s permit. How many hours of practice driving do I have to do before I can apply for my full driver’s license and drive solo?

Driving without supervision is a big step so I’m sure you’re excited about it! After getting a learner’s permit, 50 hours of driving practice are required before you can get a license in
Ohio
, and 10 of those hours must be at night.
Before you can apply for a full unrestricted license, Ohio laws require anyone under 18 with a temporary permit or probationary driving license to complete all of the following:
  • Driver education class at a licensed driver training school with 24 hours of classroom or online instruction and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice
  • 50 hours of supervised driving experience with a parent or legal guardian or custodian, 10 hours of which must be at night
  • Hold the temporary instruction permit identification card (TIPIC) for a minimum of six months
Once you’ve fulfilled the requirements, you can apply for a full license and started searching for car insurance. Making sure you’re protected is important before you hit the road, and that’s where
