In 2019, the global electric cars sales did top the sales from 2018 at 2.2 million, but there was not as drastic an increase between the years.
By 2019, EVs represented 2.5% of total car sales in the global market. With the continuation of many government incentives and tax rebate programs, more drivers were likely encouraged to go electric. In the US, about 249,000 cars were sold with 80% of them being Teslas. Chevrolet was in second with only 7% of EV sales.
