How many drunk driving accidents were there in 2019?
I’ve found lots of data online for drunk driving, but I haven’t been able to find any great data on the number of drunk driving *accidents*. Can you tell me how many accidents were caused by drunk driving in 2019?

It can definitely be hard to find the exact numbers you’re looking for online, especially for large-scale data like this! Though it’s difficult to pinpoint an exact number, the number of drunk driving accidents in 2019 was roughly 750,000.
According to the NHTSA, there are between five and six million accidents each year, and about 15% of those collisions involve impaired drivers.
The data for drunk driving fatalities is far more clear: in 2019, there were 10,142 deaths from drunk driving, which is one death every 52 minutes. Drunk drivers were also far more likely to cause fatal crashes—in fact, 28% of all traffic fatalities in 2019 resulted from drunk driving.
