The engines are the same up until the 2022 models. From 2007 to 2021, the Nissan Rogue models feature a four-cylinder engine. To give you an idea of how much power produces, you’ll get 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque with the 2021 Rogue.
However, Nissan changed engines starting with the 2022 models. Instead of a naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, Nissan Rogues now feature a turbocharged three-cylinder engine.
Even though the three-cylinder engine is smaller, it’s a little bit stronger, producing 201 horsepower along with 225 lb-ft of torque! Though far less common, three-cylinder engines are also lighter and significantly more fuel-efficient than similar four-cylinder engines.
If you’re planning on taking your Nissan Rogue off road
, you might consider a newer model with an upgraded engine, though we wouldn’t recommend it because of its smaller engine, low ground clearance, and front-wheel drive. While you’re shopping, don’t forget to research Nissan insurance costs
