How many cylinders are in a Honda Civic engine?

My friend drives a Honda Civic, and I’m always impressed by well it handles and accelerates when we’re driving. Now that I’m in the market for my own car, I’ve got my eye on the Civic (or something powerful like it). How many cylinders is a Honda Civic engine?

The latest
Honda Civic
comes standard with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine capable of 158 horsepower. But in mid-level and upper trim levels like the EX and EX-L, an optional 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is available.
While the available turbo engine still sports the same amount of cylinders as its standard counterpart, the turbo promises more power with an estimated 180 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque!
Otherwise, you’ll want to set your sights on the plucky
Honda Pilot
(a crossover SUV that comes with a larger 3.5-liter V6 engine). The latest
Honda Odyssey
also comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, although its minivan status may not deliver the type of performance you’re looking for.
If you’re craving power in your Civic, opting for the turbo engine may be the perfect compromise. But turbocharged cars don’t just increase your max speed—they can also raise insurance rates. That’s because they’re an added risk to insurance companies, who view faster vehicles as a greater incentive for unsafe driving habits. On top of higher
car insurance
premiums, turbo engines are also more costly to repair.
