The story goes like this: apparently, some years ago, BMW put the M8 GTE engine with 800 horsepower into the BMW 114d accidentally. This engine is typically used for race cars and it made the car unsafe to drive on the road. “M” typically signifies “motorsport,” so the joke became that BMW created the first BMW M114D with this happy accident. However, the car was never released.
That said, you can get your hands on a safe-to-drive BMW 114d! One usually retails for between $10,000 to $15,000.
