I’m so sorry that happened! However, Ohio makes it easy to get new plates, and they usually arrive in the mail within 10 days after applying for them! The time it takes license plates to come in the mail will vary by state—some other states will take two to three weeks for plates to come in.
Make sure to bring the following with you to the DMV:
Completed registration application (this form can be found on Ohio’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles site)
Method of payment, as it will cost $11.75 to replace both plates
And that is it! They will arrive in the mail within 10 days.
It also was wise to file a police report for your plates—stolen plates are unfortunately common, and by filing a police report, you are protecting yourself in case the plates are used in a crime. This way, the most you have to worry about is a long wait time at the DMV.
