How long will it take for me to receive my replacement driving license?

I recently lost my driver’s license and had to ask the DMV for a replacement. How long will it take for my new license to arrive?

I’m sorry that you lost your old license—living without a
driver’s license
can be very stressful. The good news is that you shouldn’t have to wait long for your new one. In most states, it takes a few weeks for your new driver’s license to arrive.
How long it takes for you to renew your license depends on several factors, such as the state you live in, how you applied for a new license, and your reason for replacement. Some reasons you may need a new license include:
  • You lost your old license
  • Your old license expired
  • You just turned 21
  • You want to upgrade to REAL ID
In general, you can expect the whole process to take longer if you apply by mail since your materials need to arrive before your new license can be processed. Depending on how you renew, you might receive a temporary license that you can use until your permanent one arrives. These generally last for 60 or 90 days and allow you to drive legally.
Once you’ve gotten your driver’s license sorted, you should take the time to revisit your car insurance plan. The car insurance broker app

can help you find an affordable new plan in a matter of minutes. Plus, Jerry users save an average of $887 per year on their car insurance.
