How long is a Volkswagen Beetle?
I’m moving to Brooklyn soon, so I want to trade in my full-size sedan for a more compact car. I’d prefer something that’s not very long, so it’s easier to parallel park. What about a VW Beetle? Is it short?

Volkswagen
Beetle is an adorable two-door car with a long history—which means the exact length will depend on its model year. Over the years, there have been three iterations of the Volkswagen Beetle (each with several generations). The first version is known as the Volkswagen Type 1 and was produced from 1938 to 1996. It had an overall length of 160.5 inches.
The Volkswagen New Beetle was introduced in 1997, drawing heavy inspiration from the original design. It only grew in length by a couple of inches, measuring at 162.6 inches total. The New Beetle lasted through the 2011 model year.
Finally, the Volkswagen Beetle (A5) was introduced for the 2012 model year and manufactured through 2019. Once again, it grew just a little bit, measuring at 168.4 inches in length.
When it comes to cars, the Volkswagen Beetle is definitely a bit smaller than average—although not by too much. The average car length is 176.4 inches—about the size of a Nissan Versa.
