How long does it take to get a car insurance card?

I just bought a car and got insurance, but I'm wary about driving it before I get the insurance card—I know it's illegal to drive without insurance, and although I'm technically covered, I don't want to take any chances. How long does it normally take to get a car insurance card?

“Congrats on the new vehicle! Usually, your

card will arrive in the mail in approximately five to 10 business days.

However, you should definitely download a digital copy of your car insurance card to use as

proof of insurance

in case you’re pulled over. Doing so will prevent any citations you might receive as a result of failing to provide proof of insurance.

One of the easiest ways to do this is through the wallet feature in the

app! The wallet feature lets you upload pictures or digital copies of important documents to the app, so that as long as you have your phone, you have all the proof of insurance you need.
