How long does it take for an insurance claim to be settled?

I was in an accident weeks ago and immediately filed a claim, but it still hasn’t been settled. Now I'm starting to get impatient. How long does it usually take for an insurance claim to be settled?

We’re so sorry to hear about your accident.
Typically, settling an insurance claim should take 45 days or less, but it can vary depending on your situation.
Some things that could impact the claim are:
  • The severity of the accident
  • If there were any injuries
  • How much the damage will cost
  • What is your deductible
To help speed up the process, make sure you organize and document everything. Having a clear paper trail of the police report and all pertinent information will make it easier for the insurance company to process the report.
Be available for your insurance adjuster. The more openly you communicate, the smoother the process will be for everyone involved.
