How long do points stay on your driving record in California?

How long will the points on my California driving record last? Most of them are just from speeding tickets, but I know they can add up over time.

Points will stay on your record for 3–10 years in California, depending on the severity of the infraction. Something like a speeding ticket will usually only last three years, whereas something like a DUI would last for 10.
If you want to remove points from your record earlier, you can always find a
California defensive driving course
to get a point or two knocked off. This won’t dramatically affect your record, but since four points in one year can mean license suspension, this is a handy tool to keep in your back pocket.
