Points will stay on your record for 3–10 years in California, depending on the severity of the infraction. Something like a speeding ticket will usually only last three years, whereas something like a DUI would last for 10.
If you want to remove points from your record earlier, you can always find a
to get a point or two knocked off. This won’t dramatically affect your record, but since four points in one year can mean license suspension, this is a handy tool to keep in your back pocket.
