How far before a turn do I have to signal?
I never know how early I should turn on my turn signal and I always end up turning it on way too early or way too late. Is there a rule of thumb for how early I should start signaling before I turn?

You should try to signal at least 100 feet before you
make a turn
, change lanes, or otherwise move your car in a lateral direction. This gives any vehicles behind you time to slow down or change lanes before you start to turn.It’s also a good idea to turn on your signal just before you begin braking, especially if you start braking significantly more than 100 feet before you begin turning.
