How does auto coverage work if my boyfriend is excluded on my policy?

"I excluded my boyfriend on my policy because he has his own car and insurance.

However, would he have coverage if he moved my vehicle out of the driveway and got into an accident? Or would his insurance company cover the damages?"

“In
car insurance
, when a driver is excluded, they do not have any coverage on your policy whatsoever.
Even if you did ask him to move your car or if he asked to borrow it, you wouldn’t be able to submit a claim. Excluding someone on a policy is telling a car insurance company that they never drive your vehicle and should never need your coverage.
Since car insurance typically follows the car and not the driver, your boyfriend’s insurance wouldn’t cover the accident either.
If you’re concerned about the possibility of an accident, you should consider adding your boyfriend to your policy as a driver. Even if he only ever moves your car, it would extend coverage to him if something were to happen. “
