When you’re driving long distances, fatigue can definitely set in. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about 100,000 accidents are caused by drowsy driving each year.
So, to wake yourself up while driving, follow a few of these simple tips:
  • Pull over and either take a nap or get some exercise
  • If you’re a
    music lover
, put on some high-energy music at a loud volume
  • Chew gum
  • Turn on the air conditioning—colder temperatures cause you to become more alert
  • Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night
  • Drive at the same time each day so your body gets used to it
  • Eat better—caffeine and fast food can actually cause you to crash after the sudden jolt of energy they provide
