How do you use a GPS while driving?
Is there a safe way to use a GPS on your phone while you’re driving? I don’t want to get into trouble for looking down at my phone all the time while I’m driving but I need directions, especially when I’m driving in an area that I don’t know very well.

It’s great that you’re being cautious about
using your phone while diriving
, especially since doing so can be really dangerous. To safely use a GPS while you’re driving, follow these steps:
- Program the address into your GPS before you start driving. Make sure that you have the correct route before you take off.
- If you’re worried about looking down at your phone, consider mounting it. You can buy small devices that hook into your air vents in order to hold your phone at eye level. That way, you’ll just have to glance over to see the map.
- Connect the directions to your car speakers if you can. Use Bluetooth, a USB cable, or another method of your choice to play your directions over your speakers.
- If you need to alter your destination, change the volume, or otherwise use your GPS while you’re driving, pull over first so that you can do so safely without taking your eyes off of the road.
As long as you follow these rules, using your GPS while driving should be easy and safe!
