How do you unplug a Tesla charger?

What’s the best way to unplug a Tesla Model S from the charger? I’m borrowing my friend’s Tesla, and I’m so nervous about doing something wrong.

Teslas are sturdy cars—so try not to worry! You can follow these steps to unplug a
Tesla
charger:
  • First, make sure that the car is unlocked.
  • Hold the charging handle with one hand and the Tesla adapter in the other. Your friend should give you this when you borrow the car.
  • Press and hold the button on the public charging handle, and pull the charger and adapter out with both hands.
  • Press and hold the button again to remove the adapter from the handle.
If the adapter and the charger are separated, the Tesla will lock the adapter into the charging port. You’ll need to use the touchscreen to unlock the charging port and pull out the adapter.
Since your friend lent you their car, you’re probably covered by her insurance policy under permissive use. But before you start driving, you should call their provider and ask about their permissive use policy.
If you aren’t covered by your friend’s insurance, consider buying a non-owner policy with
