How do you reset a car alarm after changing the battery?

My car alarm keeps going off randomly—it's becoming an issue with my neighbors. I replaced the battery. Will that reset the alarm? Or do should I do something else, too?

“I’m really sorry this has become such a problem—what a pain! Fortunately, you’re in luck. There are a few different ways to reset a car alarm.
If you can’t seem to
turn your car alarm off
, try unlocking your car manually with your key. If this doesn’t stop the alarm, turn on your car and turn the dashboard lights on and off a few times without revving up the engine.
If you’re still having trouble with the alarm, disconnecting your car’s battery may be the next best option. This will both silence the alarm and reset it—or at least it should.
You may also want to refer to your owner’s manual for the location of the alarm’s transmitter system. There, you will find the switch to turn the alarm on or off.
These solutions should fix your alarm issue. But if it persists, you’ll want to consult a mechanic. They may have a solution they can provide over the phone. If not, they may need to examine the vehicle in person.
Did you know that a higher-quality, professionally fitted car alarm could help
lower your insurance premium
? If you didn’t but you’re turned off by all things alarm-related at this point, that’s fair too.
