Don’t stress if your oil light, oil life, or maintenance reminder are still on. Your mechanic likely just forgot to reset them after doing the oil change. Fortunately, resetting them is easy.
To reset a 2011 Honda Accord
oil light, follow these simple steps: Turn the key to the accessories position, denoted by a II on the ignition. Don’t start the vehicle.
Locate the trip button that’s on the instrument cluster. It’s on the lower right side.
Press the trip button until the oil life shows at the bottom of the instrument cluster display.
Press and hold the trip button for around 10 seconds or until the oil life starts to flash.
Press and hold the button again for about 5 seconds, or until the oil life reads 100%.
By following the above procedure, your oil life will reset to 100%, effectively getting rid of the oil light and maintenance reminder.
