How do you replace car air vents?
What steps should I take to replace my car air vents? They won’t stay in place, so I can’t get the air to actually blow on me, which is really annoying.

Air conditioning is key to any comfortable car ride, so you should get your vents fixed as soon as possible! Unfortunately, air conditioning systems are complex and expensive to replace. Before you have the vents changed, bring your car to a mechanic and have them diagnose the issue.
Luckily, you can usually help direct the air more easily by changing the vent tabs! If you don’t need to
replace the vents
, follow these steps to change the tabs:- First, remove the old tabs from the broken vents. You should be able to pull them straight off without much trouble.
- Find the vertical post located behind the horizontal bars of the vent. If you shine a light into your vent, you should see it right in the middle.
- Align the middle of the new tab with the vertical post. The tab should position horizontally with the legs on the bottom.
- Push the tab onto the vent so that the legs are on either side of the vertical post. When the tab is far enough back, you should hear a soft click.
Once you hear the click, you’re done!
