How do you replace a headlight bulb on a 2006 Honda Civic?
The headlight of my 2006 Honda Civic recently went out, and I want to replace it before getting a ticket. Typically, my local auto shop can do it in a few minutes, but they’re closed this weekend. I already have the replacement bulb, and after watching it done a few times, I think I can do it myself. What’s the process to replace the headlight on my Civic?

While most maintenance is best left to professionals, replacing a headlight on a
Honda Civic
is a relatively simple process that will only take a few minutes.To replace the headlight bulb on a 2006 Honda Civic, you’ll need:
- A flathead screwdriver
- A replacement bulb
- A bit of patience
After gathering your supplies and parking in a safe location, here’s what to do:
- Turn the wheels to the right if replacing the driver-side bulb and to the left for the passenger-side bulb.
- Locate the fasteners on the front of the wheel well that hold the wheel lining in place and remove the first two.
- Pull back the liner and locate the bulb.
- Reach in and unplug the connector from the bulb.
- Turn the bulb counterclockwise until you feel it loosen.
- Remove the old bulb.
- Attach the connector to the new bulb, and install it by turning it clockwise until locked into place.
- Test the new bulb.
