How do you renew an expired driver’s license in California?
I accidentally let my driver’s license expire and I’ve been scared to try to renew it! How can I get my expired license renewed in California?

Try not to worry too much! You can renew your expired driver’s license in
California
with no late fees provided that your license isn’t from out of state. Simply visit your local DMV office to renew your license. You’ll still need to pay the $50 renewal fee, of course, but the state won’t impose any fees beyond that.That said, keep a couple of things in mind when renewing an expired license in California, however:
- It is illegal to drive while your license is expired, so you’ll need to arrange for transportation to and from the DMV
- You have 60 days to renew your expired license in California—after 60 days have elapsed, you’ll need to apply for a new license instead
