How do you remove the maintenance required light on a Toyota Tacoma?

Can you tell me how to remove the maintenance required light on my Toyota Tacoma? I thought it was an oil light, but it didn’t turn off when I got an oil change. Do I need to take my car in for another type of service?

You may need to take your car in for another service, but it’s more likely that the oil technicians just forgot to remove or reset the maintenance required light on your
Toyota Tacoma
. If you’d like to reset it yourself, you can follow these steps:
  • Start with your car off.
  • Press and hold the odometer reset button. It is located on your dashboard.
  • With the reset button still depressed, turn your car on and off again.
  • When you’ve turned your car off again, release the reset button. When you turn your car on again, the light should be gone.
If the light doesn’t turn off, however, it’s a good idea to pay your mechanic a visit. The maintenance required light can indicate other problems with your car, so it might be warning you about something other than low oil.
Since you may have a larger problem on your hands, it’s also a good idea to make sure that you’re well protected by your insurance policy. If you’re unhappy with what you find, check out the
