How do you remove duct tape residue from the exterior of your car?
How can I remove duct tape residue from my car? I used duct tape to keep the bumper on my car until I could take it to the repair shop my insurance company sent me to. I got a new bumper put on, but for whatever reason, the repair shop didn't remove the residue left behind.

“If the residue is relatively fresh, you can remove duct tape residue with either a dish soap or a quick burst of WD-40. Wipe the area clean with a rag to remove the residue, and then finish up with a quick cleaning with car wash soap.
If the residue has hardened, you’re going to need a bit of a stronger solvent. Rubbing alcohol is the best idea here. Despite advice on the internet, do not use acetone or paint thinner to remove duct tape residue. This could damage your paint, which is costly to repair.
You may also want to contact your
car insurance
company, especially if they are the ones that recommended the repair shop. They may get the shop to take care of this so you don’t have to.Since you just had some work done on your car through your insurance company, you may see your rates increase. Any time you file a claim for work to be done on your car, your rates will increase.
