How do you remove a Honda CR-V radio?
I want to update my Honda CR-V radio. How do I remove the old one? I want to make sure that my car stays in good shape so that the new radio works, but I also don’t want to have to pay someone to take it out for me.

Stereo removal can be a little complicated, so make sure to take your time! If you aren’t confident, consider taking your car to a shop specializing in sound systems.
- Find the interior knee panel on the driver’s side. It will be just below the steering wheel and held in by two Phillips-head screws.
- Remove the screws, then release the clips with your hands and pull the panel away from your dash.
- On the passenger side of your CR-V, open the glove box and hold down the sides. Then, push the sides of the glove box in so that it drops down.
- Remove the two screws on the left side of the glove box.
- Next, find the small interior pocket located at the bottom middle of your dash and, using an interior clip removal tool, pop off the clips on either side of the panel.
- Once you’ve removed all the clips, you should be able to remove the panel from the dash.
- Grab the plastic panel below the stereo and gently pull it away from the dash. You’ll have to disconnect the cigarette lighter to do this.
- Find the two Phillips-head screws on either side of the stereo. Remove those, then use a ¼ inch ratchet to remove the two 8mm bolts located by the screws.
- You should be able to pull the stereo panel away from the dashboard.
- Make sure to unplug the wiring harness and antenna lead from the back of the stereo, then use a ¼ inch ratchet and socket to unbolt the stereo from the stereo panel.
- Slide your stereo out of the stereo panel. You’ve successfully removed your stereo!
