How do you program the garage door opener in a Subaru Crosstrek?
I have a Subaru Crosstrek and it comes with buttons that you can program as universal garage door openers. I’ve always used the garage door remote that came with my garage door, but I’m tired of it hanging on (and sometimes falling from) my vanity mirror. How can I program my garage door to Crosstrek’s buttons?

To program the garage door opener of a
Subaru Crosstrek
, be sure to park your vehicle near or in the garage and follow these steps:- Press and hold the first and third garage door buttons on your Subaru’s rearview mirror until you see a flashing red light.
- Then hold down both the button on the mirror that you want to be your garage door opener and the open/close button on your regular garage door opener for a few seconds.
- Go into your garage and quickly press the Learn button on the side of the garage door control box. Be careful not to hold it for longer than one full second because it could erase the garage door connections.
- Go back to your vehicle and hold the program button on the rearview mirror for at least two seconds. Your Subaru’s garage door opener should be synced now.
- Test it by pressing the button you just programmed. It typically takes a few tries the first time.
