How do you program a BMW key to start the car?

How do I program my new BMW key to start my car for me? I lost my old keys that were pre programmed at the dealership. I got a new one, but I’m not sure how to program it myself.

I’m sorry to hear that you lost your keys! You can program your new
BMW
key to start your car by following these steps:
  1. Pair the key to your car. To do this, place the key in your ignition and turn it to the first position and off again five times in rapid succession.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Press and hold the unlock button on your key while pressing the lock button three times in quick succession.
  4. Turn the key in the ignition to complete the pairing.
Once you’ve paired your key, it’s time to turn on remote start. Here’s how:
  1. On your BMW’s display screen, select Car, then Settings.
  2. From the resulting menu, select Climate Comfort, then select Preconditioning/Ventilation.
  3. Select Remote Engine Start, then Starting Engine for Climate Control. To confirm your choice, select OK.
  4. Test out the feature to check that your key is working properly.
If you have any issues, you can always bring your new key to the dealership for assistance.
