Turn the fuel cap counterclockwise to remove it. The fuel cap has a spring; if released too soon, it will spring back to the right. When filling your tank with gas, hang the tethered fuel cap from the hook on the fuel door.
Be careful not to spill fuel on the car or outside the tank—after you’ve finished pumping, wait a few seconds to remove the nozzle. It’s recommended to avoid topping off or overfilling the tank. If you spill fuel on the vehicle’s paint, clean it off as soon as possible.
