How do you open the gas tank on the 2011 Ford Fusion?
I always thought there was a lever for the gas tank in the 2011 Ford Fusion. I feel crazy since I wasn’t able to find it at all! How do I open the gas tank door?
Instead of opening the gas tank door from the inside, you will have to get out of the car to do so (inconvenient, we know!). Here’s what to do:
Make sure your Ford Fusion is unlocked.
Find the gas tank door—it should be on the driver’s side.
Use the notch in the door to pull it open.
Unscrew the gas cap to fill the tank.
Don’t forget to screw the gas cap back on and close the door when you’re done!
There will be instances where the door gets jammed. The most common causes include:
A rusted or corroded door or hinge
A bent or misaligned hinge
A sticky locking latch
An unlubricated hinge
It may be tempting to force the door open, but you could risk damages that lead to costly repairs—especially if the car’s body is affected. The safest way to fix the gas tank door is to bring your car to a trusted mechanic for help.
