I borrowed my girlfriend’s Forester, and I’d like to return it with a full tank. Now, I’m sitting here at the gas station, trying to figure out how to open the gas tank. Can you tell me how to open the gas tank on a Subaru Forester 2021?

Subaru Forester
2021 is relatively easy. First, you will need to pull the release lever for the gas tank door, located on the floor to the left of the driver’s seat. Then, when you exit the car, you’ll find the door to the tank on the rear, passenger’s side of the Forester.
Experts recommend you touch the body of the car (where it is made out of metal) to discharge any static electricity before removing the gas cap by unscrewing the cap counter-clockwise (to the left).
When you are done filling up the tank, screw the cap back on by turning it to the right until you hear a clicking noise. That lets you know it is on correctly. And be sure to close the gas tank door before you hang up the nozzle.
So, give yourself kudos. Taking the time to fill up someone’s gas tank is a nice gesture!
