How do you open the gas tank on a 2018 Infiniti Q50?
I recently bought a 2018 Infiniti Q50 and am having trouble opening the fuel filler door to access the gas tank. I was under the impression that all you had to do was push on the door to open it, but I guess not—how do you open the gas tank on a 2018 Infiniti Q50?

You’re right that you have to push in on the fuel fill door, but you may have missed a step prior—to open the gas tank on a 2018
Infiniti Q50
, follow the steps below:- Shut the engine off.
- Unlock the fuel filler door. This can be done by pushing the power door lock switch, pressing the “UNLOCK” button on your Intelligent Key twice, or inserting the physical key into the door lock cylinder and turning it to the right twice.
- Push in on the upper left side of the fuel filler door. Upon applying pressure, the door will automatically spring open part way—pull it open further as needed.
- Turn the fuel filler cap counterclockwise to unscrew and remove it. Put the cap into the cap holder on the inside of the fuel filler door.
With the cap removed, the gas tank’s opening is now exposed and you are ready to refuel. Be sure to use unleaded premium fuel with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (93 AKI is recommended for peak performance) and keep in mind that the 2018 Infiniti Q50 has a fuel tank capacity of exactly 20 gallons—unless you have a hybrid engine, in which case fuel tank capacity is only 17.8 gallons.
Once you have finished refueling, replace the fuel filler cap and turn it clockwise until you hear an audible “click”—this signifies it is locked securely in place. Firmly shut the fuel filler door to latch it.
