How do you open the gas tank on a 2012 Infiniti G37?
This might sound silly, but how do you open the gas tank on a 2012 Infiniti G37? This car is somewhat new to me, and I didn’t think I’d even have to ask about this when I got it!

Not a silly question at all! When you switch to a different vehicle, subtle differences like how to open the gas tank door can vary quite a bit. This vehicle’s gas tank locks and unlocks with the vehicle as a security measure, so to open the gas tank on a 2012
Infiniti G37
, you’ll need to unlock it first.There are a few different ways to do so. You can:
- Press the unlock button on your Intelligent Key fob
- Press the unlock button on your driver’s side door
- Insert your mechanical key into your door lock, turning the key toward the rear of the vehicle
- Press the door handle request switch with your Intelligent Key with you
Once unlocked, you can head to the fuel filler door to open it, and press on either the right or left side of the door to pop it open.
Once you’ve finished refueling, replace the fuel filler cap and close the door until it latches. Whenever you lock your vehicle with your fob or the switch on your driver’s side door, the fuel filler door should lock, too.
If you can’t get your gas tank door to open, you could have a problem with the locking mechanism or another component. If you can’t get it unstuck yourself, you might want to enlist the help of a mechanic to avoid damaging the fuel door.
