How do you open the gas tank on a 2009 Toyota Sienna?

I just got my license, and the only car I have access to is my dad’s minivan. He’s letting me borrow it on the condition that I fuel it up—how do you open the gas tank on a 2009 Toyota Sienna?

Opening the gas tank on your 2009
Toyota Sienna
can be tricky the first few times! Next time you pull up to the pump, follow these steps in your ‘09 Sienna for hassle-free refueling:
  • Locate the fuel release lever inside the driver’s side footwell. It should have a gas pump icon on it.
  • Pull up on the fuel release lever to open the fuel filler door.
  • Exit your vehicle and locate the open fuel door.
  • Pull back the fuel door to reveal the fuel cap, then turn the handle counterclockwise until it opens.
With the fuel cap opened, you’ll be able to insert the gas pump and fuel up the tank! Once you’re done fueling, don’t forget to close the fuel cap again, this time by turning the handle clockwise. The outer fuel door should automatically close when you push it back into place!
Luckily for you, the Toyota Sienna
gas tank
takes 87 octane fuel, so you shouldn’t have to spend a fortune at the pump.
