Opening the gas tank on a 2008 Dodge Charger
is very simple; push in on the rear left edge of the fuel filler door. Upon applying pressure, the fuel filler door will automatically unlatch and spring open partway. Pull the door open the rest of the way and unscrew the gas cap. Lay the cap tether in the hook inside the fuel filler door. The gas tank is now exposed and you are ready to refuel.
If your 2008 Dodge Charger is equipped with the standard 2.7L engine, use high quality unleaded “regular” gasoline with an octane rating of 87 when refueling. If you have the larger 3.5L or 5.7L engine, use high quality unleaded gasoline with an octane rating between 87 and 89.
Before refueling, make sure you know the fuel tank capacity of your specific 2008 Dodge Charger, as the number varies slightly depending on the trim level. This will ensure that you do not overfill the tank.
When you’ve finished refueling, screw the gas cap back into place until you hear an audible “click” to signify it is secure. If the gas cap is loose or isn’t sitting properly, you’ll see a “Check Gas Cap” message on your Dodge’s electronic vehicle information center—a poorly-fitting fuel cap can also trigger the dashboard Malfunction Indicator Light.
