How do you open the gas tank on a 2002 Toyota Avalon?
I’m driving my uncle’s old beater while I house-sit for him, and I can’t figure out how to access the gas tank. Can you tell me how to open the gas tank on a 2002 Toyota Avalon?

has withstood the test of time! A lot of new cars allow you to just press the gas tank door to open it, but this older Avalon still uses an interior gas tank lever. To open the gas tank on a 2002 Toyota Avalon, you’ll need to pull the gas tank door release lever located beneath the driver’s seat.It may be easier to get out of the car to find this lever. Look around the front of the base of your Avalon’s driver seat for a small plastic lever with a picture of a gasoline pump on it. Lift up on this lever and you should hear the gas tank door pop open. All you have to do now is unscrew the gas cap and you are good to fill up your 2002 Toyota Avalon!
