How do you know that your car has been towed?
How can I find out if my car was towed? I went out to lunch, and when I came outside, my car was gone! I don't know if it was stolen or towed. What should I do?

Oh no! I’m sure that was a terrible feeling. Thankfully, there are resources to figure out if your car was towed.
To figure out if your car has been towed, you can call 311 or visit your city’s towed vehicle locator website. Both resources will be equally effective for you, but each will require a different set of information.
The towed vehicle locator website will only need your:
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- License plate number
However, 311 will need your:
If you give them the correct information, both these resources will direct you to the company that towed your truck or the impound location. From there, you can communicate directly with the towing company about retrieving your car.
