Not being able to drive in the snow can make getting to your destination difficult. Fortunately, you have plenty of options to find out if your car is 4-wheel drive. The easiest way to figure out if your car is 4-wheel drive is to check your owner’s manual or the sticker that came in the window.
If that’s not an option, you can figure out whether or not your car is 4-wheel drive using the VIN (vehicle identification number)! Just visit a car history reporting website like CARFAX
and enter your VIN to learn details about your car. You may need to pay for this service. If you’d like to be certain that your car is specifically 4-wheel drive, you can check the axles. Look under the front of your car for a cylindrical metal shaft that runs directly toward the center of a cone-shaped, rubber part of your wheel. If this shaft is present and your engine belts are pointed towards the front of your car, you have 4-wheel drive.
While you’re taking time to learn about your car, why not take a minute to learn more about your car insurance options, too?
