You’re asking a great question! Knowing how to keep your car in your lane is imperative to safe driving.
Here are some tips for staying centered in the lane:
Remember you are centering the vehicle—not yourself. In the U.S., you will be sitting on the left-hand side of the car—so you should be on the left side of a lane.
Keep your steering wheel as still as possible. No need to jiggle the steering wheel back and forth if you are on a straight stretch of road. Of course, make sure you turn your wheel if the lane turns!
Scan the road ahead. It’s hard to visualize where your car is within a lane if you aren’t scanning the road ahead. This gives you a better perspective of your vehicle. Plus, it keeps you safer in the process.
