How do you get sap off your car?

I just got back from a camping trip, and realized that there is tree sap dried onto the hood of my new truck! I went through the car wash, but it is still there. How can I get the sap off my car without messing up the paint?

Nothing is more of a bummer than the first flaw on your perfect new vehicle! Fortunately, tree sap can be removed, and your hood will be restored to its former glory!

Rubbing alcohol (also called Isopropyl Alcohol) and a microfiber cloth or some cotton balls are all you need to solve your problem. Here’s what to do:

Soak your cloth or cotton balls in the rubbing alcohol

Apply that directly to the tree sap and let it soak for 30-60 seconds

Rub the cloth in a circular motion to remove the sap

Use a clean cloth and water to rinse the area when you are done

People may recommend nail polish remover for removing sap—but be wary. This can permanently mess up your car’s paint job.
