How do you get rid of a junk car without a title?
My grandfather is famous for collecting some old cars on his farm, and he’s finally letting us get rid of them at the junkyard. Unfortunately, he lost the titles for some of the vehicles, so we’re not sure if we can sell them. How can we get rid of junk cars that don’t have titles?

Great question! I’m happy to say that this is actually possible in some states—while it’s much easier with proof of a title, you won’t be completely out of luck if you don’t have it.
While it’s always best to
find the title
, or get a new one from your local DMV, it may be possible to take it to a junkyard if you have proof of registration and your driver’s license. As long as you are honest and upfront about the situation, and as long as you can prove that you legitimately own these cars, you may still be able to sell them without a title!If your grandfather is planning to get a new car to replace some of the old ones, it’s good to keep in mind that he’ll need to get it insured.
