How do you get duct tape residue off of car paint?

I got my windshield replaced yesterday and they used duct tape to fasten it. Once I removed it, the tape residue stuck to my roof! How can I remove this duct tape residue from my car paint?

Duct tape residue definitely isn’t fun! Luckily, though, there are several different methods you can use to get it off. Here are a few:
  • Rubbing alcohol. This may be the most effective at removing the residue. Just apply it with a soft microfiber cloth and rub until the residue is gone.
  • A WD-40 pen. Rub the felt tip over the goo until it comes off, then wipe any remaining WD-40 with a cloth.
  • Goo Gone. Place a few drops on the sticky area. After a few minutes, rub it with a soft cloth to remove any excess.
