How do you get an ex-spouse off of a credit report?
I want to get my former spouse off of my credit report without damaging my credit. We have a joint car loan but my partner has a lot more personal debt than I do and I’m nervous that it will follow me.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through a divorce. To get your ex-spouse removed from your credit report, you’ll need to go directly to your car loan lender and ask that the contract be amended.
If the lender doesn’t agree to remove your ex-spouse from the loan contract, you can
in your own name instead. This will remove your ex from your contract, but you will have to find a new lender.
You’ll probably also need to update your car insurance policy to reflect your new financial situation. To make sure you get the best rates, check out the
