How do you get a tire back on the rim?

My nephew has been learning to drive on my second car. He recently had a blow out and we need a new tire. How do you get a tire back on the rim?

Good question. You can get a tire back on the rim with one of two methods: lubrication and muscle power or fire.
For the lubrication method, you will need the tire, the rim, some dish detergent, and a pry bar. Flat ground is also essential. This is probably the safer of the two techniques, given that it sounds like your nephew will be participating.
  • Squirt a small amount of detergent on the back bead.
  • Open the back bead by pushing or standing on the tire wall.
  • Work the back bead into the rim.
  • Now, squirt detergent to the front bead.
  • Use the pry bar in small sections, two inches apart, until the entire front bead is inside the rim.
For the dangerous fire method, you will need the tire, the rim, some WD-40 or starter fluid, a lighter, and a fire extinguisher.
  • Place the rim inside the tire and lay it flat on the ground. Spray the flammable liquid into the cavity around the entire bead, plus a leading line for lighting it later.
  • Light the fluid.
  • After less than two seconds, you will hear a pop—immediately put out the fire.
  • Pump air into the tire to fill it properly.
Be cautious and ask for help from a skilled mechanic if you’re uncertain. If the car trouble is the result of an accident, note that your
