My check engine light is signaling something is wrong with my gas cap. I stopped on the side of the road and made sure that the gas cap was closed. Now, I’m not sure what to do. How do I fix a gas cap check engine light?

To fix a gas cap check engine light, try the following:
  • Open and close the gas cap again to reset the sensor.
  • Turn your car off and on again.
  • Use an OBD sensor (on-board diagnostic tool) to erase the code.
