You can fix a broken fiberglass bumper with fiberglass resin and hardener.
Start by disabling your airbag and removing the front bumper. Look for screws or clips holding the bumper in place—and take pictures so you can remember how to reattach them! In some models, you might have to remove other parts (like fog lights) to completely remove the front bumper.
Next, it’s time to clean the bumper. Put on your protective gear, as fiberglass particles can be dangerous. Grind down the damaged parts with a grinder and specialty sandpaper. Then, use acetone to remove all grime.
Finally, make the repairs. You will need:
Fiberglass resin
Hardener
Cloth matting strips
WoodCut the matting to fit the damage. Mix the resin and hardener and then apply the mixture to the entirety of the cloth strip. Do it quickly, because this solution will harden fast. Once it’s dry, grind it, fill it, sand it, and paint it.
