How do you find a tracker on your car?

This sounds crazy, but I think my ex might have planted a GPS tracking device on my car. How can I check my vehicle for a GPS tracking device?

If you’re feeling uneasy and have any reason to believe that someone is monitoring your vehicle’s every move, it’s worth performing a thorough check. To find a tracker on your car, start by performing a thorough physical check of your vehicle’s entire exterior.
Use a flashlight and be sure to check in the wheel wells, behind your bumpers, beneath your vehicle’s undercarriage, and even under the hood. Trackers will look different depending on who manufactured them, but you’re generally looking for a small box with a magnetic side.
Keep in mind that tracking devices meant for legitimate purposes aren’t meant to be hidden or concealed. Plus, they’re often installed inside the vehicle. On the other hand, some GPS devices are specifically made to be concealed, and these are generally implanted somewhere on the outside of the vehicle.
If they have access to your car’s interior, the device may be plugged into the data port beneath the driver’s side of your dashboard. It could also be in the trunk (including the spare tire compartment), under the seats, in the glove box, or beneath the dashboard cover.
If you don’t find a tracker after a thorough sweep but still feel uneasy, you can purchase an electronic sweeper online. This tool will check for the presence of radio frequencies or cellular-signal transmission to let you know if a tracker is nearby.
If all else fails, you can seek professional assistance. Alarm system installers, audio system technicians, licensed mechanics specializing in electronic systems, remote start installers, and even private investigators may be able to help you.
If you do locate a tracker, removing it and destroying it should be easy, as most are battery operated and attached via magnet or tape. If the tracker is wired to your car in any way, carefully detach it, ensuring that you don’t damage any of your vehicle’s electronic components.
