Can I fight my distracted driving ticket? I got pulled over for the first time ever last week and I’m hoping that I can get out of the charge. What do I need to do to fight it?

I’m sorry to hear that you got pulled over! In most states, you’ll be given a court date on your ticket, which you can attend to fight the distracted driving charge. In order to get out of the charge, you’ll need to prove that the violation was either necessary or misobserved by the officer.

While you can represent yourself, it’s typically better to hire a traffic court

to help you win your case. Traffic court lawyers know the ins and outs of traffic law and might be able to help you find an argument that you hadn’t already seen. It’s also possible that they’ll know the officer, which would give you an advantage.
